Two MAN 12V175D medium duty marine engines were installed on board the new 450 passenger High Speed Catamaran Ferry “Oceanna 175”. After a fast installation and commissioning, the shipyard-owner of PT Palindo and future operator of “Oceanna 175”, Mr. Harmanto was very pleased with the impressive engine performance during sea trials and with the extremely low vibration and noise levels, even at full speed.
With a maximum power of 2,220 kW (> 3.000 PS) at 1,900 rpm, the MAN 12V175D medium duty marine propulsion engines have a very competitive power to weight ratio. Furthermore, the “Oceanna 175” is also equipped with the MAN designed Alphatronic 3000 propulsion control system. Alphatronic 3000 optimizes the overall performance of the propulsion train, so the MAN 175D propulsion set-up is perfectly attuned to the operational profile of the “Oceanna 175”.
Commissioning of the complete propulsion train was undertaken locally by the MAN Diesel & Turbo facility in Singapore, which has served the high speed market in the Asia-Pacific region for over 30 years with both MAN Diesel & Turbo and MAN Truck & Bus products. So, there's nothing else for it but to wish fair wind and following seas for the “Oceanna 175”!
